Newborns (First Year Milestones below)
To best capture those sweet, sleepy infant moments we suggest scheduling your newborns first session for three to ten days after birth. This doesn't mean if your child is older that we can't still photograph your baby - if your little one didn't come home till they were a little older, or you suddenly realized that you want to capture that face that you are so in love with before they mature any more, we can still capture that sweet infant to record this precious moment in time!
In our pre-consultation I will come to your home, take a look at your window light our preferred lighting for newborns (they don't like flashes), and take the time to get to know you and your family; what colors you like, what styles you prefer, we'll discuss what-to-wear for you, any older children, and of course your newest addition, we'll also discuss where the art could hang in your home.
On the day of the photo-shoot I will arrive with enough bags that you may think I'm moving in, I promise that isn't the case! These bags hold the magic to turn your living room or bedroom into a full newborn studio, they include a frame to hold the backdrops (blankets, sheets/ etc), a large beanbag to place your precious new gift, along with blankets upon blankets, props to showcase your child, cloth diapers and wipes (in case of a diaper less issue), along with a small heater as when we remove the onesies and wraps we do not want the little one to be cold or uncomfortable. When we first arrive we'll need to arrange the set, while we're doing that we'll have you feed your baby so that they are just nodding off to dreamland as we're ready to get started taking images. We'll try multiple positions throughout the session, some babies easily flow from one pose to another, while others have trouble settling in to some positions in which case we'll stick to what keeps them comfortable; the process can seem slow, but we'll go at your infants pace, if they need to feed again, we give you the time to fill up their little tummy.
At the reveal we can either come to your home or meet at a local coffee shop (or the like)-we understand that sometimes you just feel the need to get out of the house with a newborn, fresh air is good for us all! We will share approximately 15-20 images for you to choose from, since we will have had the pre-consultation we'll already have an idea of what you are looking to get out of this photo shoot, we'll discuss wall prints, albums, greeting cards, along with any other products you are interested in.
Two to six weeks later your products will arrive, we can come for one additional visit if you would like assistance hanging your new photos.
